Buenos Aires, Argentina

Mary L. Peachin

Buenos Aires

Located on the Río de la Plata, Buenos Aires’ Puerto Nuevo was established in 1949 by Juan Perón. The excitement you feel upon arriving in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, nicknamed the “Paris of Latin America,” diminishes when you are greeted by taxi drivers charging exorbitant rates. Take a deep breath and negotiate a metered fare to the nearest subway (ubterráneo de Buenos Aires), locally known as subte.

For many, arriving in Buenos Aires, the gateway to Argentina, requires a long journey. If that’s the case, consider adding pre-or-post cruise days so that you can see more of the city and explore other areas of Argentina.
